Author’s Introduction

  1. The “endurance versus perdurance”1, or “3D versus 4D”, controversy has been much-discussed in recent philosophy. But on the standard way of formulating the 3D and 4D views, both views have unwanted consequences.
  2. The aim of this paper is to show that this is so, and to present an improved formulation of the views at issue in the 3D/4D controversy.
