- Thesis Text:
- Text to be supplied.
Further Remarks:
- Thought and Thinking occur frequently in arguments concerning Personal Identity, not least in:-
→ Language of Thought4,
→ Eric Olson’s Thinking Animal Argument5,
→ Descartes6’s Cogito,
→ Thought Experiments7
→ Intelligence8
- Indeed, it is surprising how obsessed Olson appears to be with Thinking, given that his view is that psychology is irrelevant to our survival.
- In any case, it would be useful to have a considered view on just what Thought (and Thinking) is, particularly if I’m to have a view on whether (some, non-human) Animals9 or Computers10 can think.
- A good place to start is "Crane (Tim) - Thought", especially as I made extensive notes on the Chapter while I was an undergraduate.
