Author's Introduction

• Jews and Muslims alike saw the 1927 destruction of the Temple Mount Mosque as “The Hand of Heaven” and “From Allah.”
• This study reconstructs the architectural and theological history of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā and the Qubbat al-Ṣakhrah atop Jerusalem’s ancient Temple Mount (Har ha-Bayit; al-Ḥaram al-Sharīf), with particular emphasis on the catastrophic Jericho earthquake of July 11, 1927.
