This document covers1 the following functions performed by clicking buttons on the front screen:-
- Audio (cmdAudio_Click)
To see the Code, click on the procedure names above.
- The above procedure simply displays the two tables
→ Audio_Files, and
→ Oboe_Practice_Hours.
- However, the purpose of this Note is to detail how I create and process audio files.
Methodology
- I record myself playing the oboe using either:-
- “Voice memos” on my iPhone, or
- “Voice Recorder” on my Lenovo Windows 10 ThinkPad
- If using my iPhone I then:-
- “Share” the m4a file to Files on my iCloud Drive (Folder “Oboe”).
- Access the files on my PC via iCloud for Windows.
- However sourced, I convert the m4a files to mp3 using Online Audio Converter (because HTML5 doesn’t support the iPhone’s m4a format).
- I add rows to the Audio_Files table, giving the file name and various other details, including which Functor option to use …
- Functor_17 (Options 1 & 2) are used to embed tables of Audio files, the audio player and a text commentary into Notes – currently only my Music Page2 - the first giving a full list, the second giving those prepared for my next Oboe lesson.
- The audio-file ID has to be manually added to the relevant row in Oboe_Practice_Hours so the latest audio date appears in the reporting query Oboe_Practice_Hours_List.
This is a bodge needed for Orchestral extracts, where time isn’t recorded against individual extracts, only the grade they are for.
- The audio files themselves have to be placed in directory “C:\Theo's Files\Websites\Theo's Website\Photos\Notes\Audio”.
This Note is awaiting attention3.
